Jemma A. Takx is a first-generation American, native Floridian, and proud double Nole. She earned a Bachelor of Science in both Political Science and Social Science, cum laude, and her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Florida State University.

During law school, Jemma distinguished herself through extensive advocacy, scholarship, and leadership. She was a national finalist in the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition, an international advocate on the Vis Moot International Arbitration Team, and a brief writer and rebuttal oralist for the Moot Court Team. She served on the Executive Board of the Florida State University Law Review as Executive Article Selection Editor, and also contributed as an editor for the Journal of Transnational Law and Policy and the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law.

Beyond her editorial and advocacy work, Jemma was a Student Ambassador for the College of Law and served on the Law School Council. She also served as a research assistant for the Journal of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, and clerked for the Southern Poverty Law Center, focusing on civil rights and systemic justice issues.

Jemma’s early legal experience also includes serving as the legal assistant to the Executive Director of the International Bar Association in London, U.K., and previously as a parliamentary and constituency assistant in the U.K. House of Commons. While in Parliament, she helped organize the “Free Nazanin” campaign and advocated for the release of unjustly detained constituents in Iran – an experience that cemented her commitment to standing up for those without power or representation.

She began her legal career in public service as an attorney with the Florida Department of Children and Families, representing the State in cases involving child abuse, abandonment, and neglect. Jemma later transitioned into private practice, expanding her focus to employment discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower, and partnership disputes, as well as franchisee and small business rights.

At Cantrell Schuette, Jemma is dedicated to protecting employees, partners, and franchisees from discrimination, retaliation, and unfair treatment. She brings to her practice a meticulous attention to detail, a collaborative approach, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring every client’s voice is heard.
